Writers all over the world put their faith in their own personal Story Bible.
But what is Story Bible and how can this one save you?
A story bible is a sacred document for writers everywhere. It is a folder, a file, a notebook - even a box - of notes and ideas that the writer has compiled for his/her/their writing project.
Also known as a writer's bible or series bible, a story bible can be as basic or complex as the writer creates. Think of it as a blueprint for your story, providing a detailed roadmap for your characters, plotlines, and settings.
A story bible is a living document that grows and evolves with your narrative, ensuring consistency and coherence across all aspects of your storytelling. It ensures clarity and consistency across each writing project.
For example, it is easy to imagine how useful a story bible would be if you have written a series of books or television scripts. A story bible helps you to keep track of each character and every twist and turn of the narrative. It is a comprehensive guide to where your story has been and where it may go.
My Story Bible
Many moons ago, if I did not write my story ideas in notebooks, I typed them into my phone or scribbled them on scraps of paper. Those notes were often lost to the winds or the washing machine. Just like you.
Over the years, I learned to gather most of these story inspirations on my computer or in a folder on a shelf. These writer's bibles work too but nothing beats the accessibility of a notebook and the physical act of writing in it when the inspiration grabs you.
I needed a hardbacked journal, made to last, that could travel with me to work every day or when I traveled abroad so I would never lose an idea again. This meant I could continue my writing project no matter where I was and my journal was durable. When I was at home, I wanted one in a bold colour that would jump out at me instead of hiding on the shelf.
I wanted more.
I needed one that was more of a companion to writers., the ultimate sidekick. One that included prompts and a breakdown of what writers need to consider for writing projects, such as characters, plot, setting, and theme.
I couldn't find what I needed anywhere - it was like hunting unicorns - so I created my own: Story Bible - the Life-and Death Journal for Writers.
I now share Story Bible with you, so you don't have to hunt for it but can spend your precious time filling it with writing ideas. My Story Bible is your Story Bible.
